PRODUCT DETAILS

The Kalevala Bear necklace features three bear elements linked together with small jump rings. Each bear element measures 17 mm in width and 10 mm in height. Patterned on both sides. Anchor chain, adjustable length 42/45/50 cm. Spring ring clasp. Available in silver and bright bronze.

Designed by Kaisaleena Mäkelä in the 1990s, Kalevala Bear was part of the extensive Inception collection that drew inspiration from jewelry featuring mythical animal motifs, worn by northern peoples in ancient times. The beloved classic now returns with a new look to celebrate Kalevala’s 90^th anniversary. The items are stamped with the anniversary year logo.

JEWELRY STORY

In Finnish mythology, the bear was the most powerful of all sacred animals - half forest spirit, half human kin. The Kalevala bear piece was originally designed by Kaisaleena Mäkelä in the 1990s as part of the Alkuaika collection, which drew inspiration from the ancient mythical animals of northern peoples.

This reinterpreted classic celebrates Kalevala Jewelry's 90-year story. The anniversary hallmark on each piece marks a singular moment – 90 years of women's stories, Finnish craftsmanship, and a celebration of design.

Care instructions for bronze jewelry

Bronze is an alloy of copper, tin and zinc which
tarnishes faster than precious metals. The new bronze jewelry has a jewelry protector
varnish surface that prevents the jewelry from darkening. With the Kalevala cleaning cloth, you can
polishes areas that have dimmed if the protective varnish has worn off.
After cleaning, it's a good idea to wash the jewelry in mild soapy water, so as not to damage the cloth
the cleaning agent inside stains clothes.
